Convicted of murder and sentenced to life at age 22, Gilbert Poole served 32 years before Michigan’s new attorney general re-opened the case. One of the first in her new Conviction Integrity Unit, the evidence was thoroughly dis-credited, and Mr. Poole was exonerated and released. Now just months into his journey, to adapt to a very different world, his family long passed away, he is continuing to develop the talents he discovered in prison—painting/drawing and writing—even as he builds on the faith he found during his last years. Now he is overwhelmed with international media attention and looking forward to new opportunities.
